It's that time of year again where summer is approaching and the excitement of holiday season arriving is beginning to kick in! So, summertime, let's start with the cliché - the nights get longer, the skin gets darker, the music gets louder but the one that I most definitely agree with is...life gets better! Summer season means festival season so today's blog will be about festival fashion. Due to the typical British weather being its unpredictable self, festivals in the U.K usually means wrapping up warm with a pair of wellies and a waterproof jacket. However, fly 5,037 miles to California and you will soon come to realise festival fashion is taken to a whole new level. The Californian festival Coachella was a few weeks ago - it is arguably the most stylish music event - the festival that sets trends which will dominate for the rest of the summer season. In today's blog, I will be exploring the popular fashion items that have been trending over the years in the Indio field. Whilst also looking at styles from Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid to Vanessa Hudgens.

At Coachella, supermodel Kendall Jenner went for a simple look with a long maxi dress, whilst pairing the dress with a large statement necklace. Statement necklaces have been trending in the Indio fields over the past few years. Pairing a simple outfit with an embellished necklace can turn a 'boring' outfit into a statement outfit which is bound to catch people's attention. Jenner was not the only one to use these necklaces to make a statement - others spotted include sister Kylie Jenner, fashion icon Gigi Hadid and singer Katy Perry.

Moving onto Coachella queen Vanessa Hudgens, the actress went for a two-piece crop top and matching shorts. Co-ord sets have become popular - they are relatively simple outfits that can be easily accessorised to dress up or dress down an outfit depending on the occasion. Vanessa's simple outfit was completed with Hudgens' boho wavy hair, which was then accompanied by the most popular fashion accessory - flower crowns. Flower crowns/ headbands are the most popular item associated with festivals. On the plus side, they are inexpensive to buy and can add that "festival vibe" to any outfit. Hudgens used the simple co-ord set to her advantage and finished the look off with rose tinted glasses and volumised wavy hair to make that bold festival style statement. Lastly, moving onto American fashion model Gigi Hadid, the supermodel opted for a boho chic look by pairing cut off shorts with a crochet crop top. This was completed with a fringe waistcoat to dress up the outfit to give that "festival vibe". Trending fashion items, such as a fringe, have become popular to wear during the festival season. Whether it is on bags or clothing, fringe can easily dress up an outfit. The look was completed with accessories such as statement necklaces, which were worn around her waist and attached to her shorts. Hadid also layered simple necklaces whilst finishing her look off with a beaded necklace around her forehead to compliment her beach waves and change her street style look to a Boho festival chic.
