Those of you who have known me for some time will very well know if my hair isn’t right, I don’t feel right! (So extra I know, but it’s true!) Anddd... you’ll also know Neha and short hair isn’t a thing. Well until last week!

The last few months, my hair has been through its fair share of straightening, curling, hair spraying and backcombing! So I thought it was time to give my hair the TLC it really needs. I decided to cut my hair shorter and let it grow again. That way all split ends or lifeless hair would be cut off and grow back to be thicker, stronger and most of all healthier! However going shorter, resulted in any colour left in my hair, to be lost. I decided to go for balayage this time. I usually am the highlights type of girl but this requires touch-ups and root colouring as the months go by. So balayage was the one for me!

I had my hair coloured by balayage specialist Lauren Walker. I explained my past hair experiences to Lauren and her response was "you don’t do things in halves, do you!" I coloured my hair right before prom and I’m colouring it again before a wedding reception...😬 However, Lauren did not disappoint! She made sure I thoroughly understood the process and she was always willing to answer my questions. When it comes to balayage, one thing Lauren informed me about is every hair lifts differently. Therefore, no balayage will look the same on each person. As a result of this, we were unsure whether my colour would lift as a warmer tone or if we’d be able to fight the reddish tones in my hair to really bring the colour out.

To our surprise, my hair lifted very well and there were NO warm tones! We created an ashy brown tone against my dark brown hair for the summer. As it was my first time having the balayage, Lauren decided to let the colour naturally flow through my hair. We did this by allowing natural strands off my hair to remain the same at the front and then slowly allowing the colour to show through 3/4 of the way down from my root. This not only allowed the colour to blend into my natural hair but Lauren also applied it to areas that would frame my face.

I would 100% recommend balayge as there is no need for root touch-ups and is very low maintenance. The balayage process allows you to go lighter at your own pace and can happen over a series of services!
